A
retreat day for volunteers is among the many opportunities for rest and
reflection on offer at the Centres of Ignatian Spirituality in March and April.
Jesuit
Volunteers Australia is joining with Campion Centre of Ignatian Spirituality
for a retreat titled, ‘Reflecting on the call to volunteer' on Sunday 21 March.
Many people are drawn to help those who are at the edges of our society
- the homeless, the mentally ill, the refugee, the prisoner, those living in
isolation and loneliness. But how do we sustain such a commitment and how do we
make sense of what drives that commitment?
God is found in every human being we encounter. The peace we all seek is
to be found in our service and our compassion for others - what we crave for
ourselves is found in our giving. When we reflect on and explore our
volunteering in this way, our experience becomes all the richer and all the
more sustainable.
This is an opportunity to reflect on the experience of volunteering in a
way which will nourish and sustain you.
