Just Cycle
Yarra Valley is a new recreational cycling event which will take place in
Victoria's beautiful Yarra Valley on Sunday 11 April 2010.
An initiative
of Jesuit Social Services, Just Cycle Yarra Valley will raise awareness and
funds for an organisation that works with some of the most disadvantaged and
at-risk people, families and communities.
The event
features two courses - a 45km recreational ride highlighting the picturesque
Yarra Valley and a 120km endurance ride featuring the challenge of Mount Donna
Buang. More than just another recreational ride, Just Cycle Yarra Valley offers
a complete entertainment experience for cycling enthusiasts, friends and family
with a day of fun activities and live music amongst the vines of Yarra Valley's
Rochford Wines.
Announcing
the introduction of this new event, Jesuit Social Services CEO Julie Edwards is
delighted with the potential Just Cycle Yarra Valley has to offer.
‘Not only is
this a fantastic recreational ride and day out for the whole family, but the
event will support some of Melbourne's most disadvantaged young people,
families and communities in a region that requires the ongoing support of the
wider community after the devastating bushfires last year' Edwards explains.
In its first
year, Jesuit Social Services expects to attract approximately 2,000 ride
participants, with an additional 2,000 people expected to attend the post-ride
festivities at Rochford Wines.
‘With the
tremendous growth of cycling as a recreational activity, Jesuit Social Services
is excited to launch Just Cycle Yarra Valley' Edwards announced.
