A sell-out crowd of up to
600 people attended the revamped and renamed Men's Night of Mateship at St
Mary's North Sydney recently.
The three guest speakers
were former Liberal Party leader Brendan Nelson, former Wallaby Nick Farr-Jones
and former head of the Australian Defence Force, Peter Cosgrove.
The evenings follow in
the footsteps of the enormously successful ‘Women's Night of Spirituality',
which has been running in the parish for more than 10 years.
Parish priest Fr Tony
Smith SJ said each of the guest speakers had interesting stories to share from
their respective fields.
'In the lives of [these
men] it was not difficult to see God shining through in the 'stuff' of their
lives', said Fr Smith.
'The sell-out crowd
appreciated the courtesy extended to them as our speakers revealed an intimate
sense of their life - lives touched by God.'
